By the time indicated for the closing of nominations and before any official announcement I was in the top five finalists for the Milbloggies Army branch. I will be out on assignment for the next several days and will not have the chance to wait for any official announcement or campaign for the coveted award of top Army blogger. So, keep me in your thoughts and prayers and vote.

Francis Marion is not my given name but the name of the United State's first unconventional warrior. He is most remembered from a comment made by British Lieut. Col. Tarleton who said, "As for this damned 'Swamp Fox', the devil himself could not catch him." Francis Marion, or the Swamp Fox, successfully fought the British in South Carolina and was a significant contributor in their eventual defeat at Yorktown.
I have been a U.S. Army Special Forces soldier since 1988. I was involved in the initial "invasion" of Haiti, completed two tours in Afghanistan, a combat tour as an advisor in the Republic of the Philippines, and I am now working as a contractor in Iraq.
