Tim O’Brien tell us, “True war stories do not generalize. They do not indulge in abstraction or analysis.” In this context I offer you my first War Story with the added emphasis that not all of my War Stories come from combat zones or in times of war.

Francis Marion is not my given name but the name of the United State's first unconventional warrior. He is most remembered from a comment made by British Lieut. Col. Tarleton who said, "As for this damned 'Swamp Fox', the devil himself could not catch him." Francis Marion, or the Swamp Fox, successfully fought the British in South Carolina and was a significant contributor in their eventual defeat at Yorktown.
I have been a U.S. Army Special Forces soldier since 1988. I was involved in the initial "invasion" of Haiti, completed two tours in Afghanistan, a combat tour as an advisor in the Republic of the Philippines, and I am now working as a contractor in Iraq.
